Although not currently being aired on television, children’s animated cartoon show Fireman Sam remains a firm favourite. Lead character Fireman Sam lives in the fictional Welsh town of Pontypandy. Sam is affectionately known as the “Hero Next Door” and the townspeople know they can always rely on Sam in an emergency. One Pontypandy resident is mountain rescue worker Tom Thomas, who hails from Australia. Tom can be called upon to help Sam when a helicopter rescue is needed.
